I’ve scratched my eye plenty of times. Each time it tends to bring up a lot of anxiety that it’s permanent damage and frankly I dunno if that would matter so much if I was a less visual person. But like my semi daily posts indicate, there’s a lot of things I see and a lot of places I notice them in.

This photo wasn’t a selfie though. It was the first time one of my brother’s had done the same thing and so when the lights went off I took a quick snap with my phone while he talked the nurse through was had happened.

I don’t treat everyone in my life as a photo assignment. Especially folks who are close. I’ve done the diligence to ask and make sure. But photos are a language I’m very fluent with and you can’t forget something that well known. Most of them get me well enough to understand that it’s just who I am at this point. I have a camera with me in any given second. It’s synonymous with how I enter a room and the furthest thing from a flex for clout. Because regardless of the scene or moment, an opportunity to make a photo is always a chance to synthesize colors, shapes, motion, and gravity into the same two words every time: ”love you.”
